Lymphadenectomy

including lymph node cleansing

Removal of a tumor’s sentinel lymph nodes. In gynecology, it is sometimes necessary to remove the lymph nodes in the pelvis (pelvic) or the para-aortic region (along the aorta and vena cava). In some cases, it may be sufficient to remove only a limited number of lymph nodes or even a single lymph node, known as the sentinel lymph node. This lymph node is identified in advance by injecting tracers that concentrate in that lymph node.
