Removal of the uterus and cervix. In this procedure, the vagina must be opened and then sutured closed. The uterus is removed through the vagina. (B)

Structures that connect the uterine cavity to the abdominal cavity and facilitate the union of an egg and a sperm, as well as the transport of the fertilized egg into the uterine cavity. The removal of a fallopian tube is called a salpingectomy.
